Martin Donohoe arrived in Australia in 1833 on the portland. I dont know anything about the years, up until 1841, when he was part of the group that captured the Jew boys gang near Scone. I think he was a servant to William Damaresq. For his help he was granted a pardon. There is some evidence he owned a pub in Denman and was involved in horse racing, owning a horse called Victor.
It is all very clear from the time of his son William, who worked and lived on Martindale station,as did his son Victor, my grandfather. What is not clear is what happened between his pardon and his death and how the next two generations ended up living and working on Martindale. Any help would be appreciated. |
